Biker Patches: A Beginner's Guide to Club Patches & Placement

Biker patches are more than decoration — they tell people who you ride with and what you stand for. Here's the classic layout, what each piece means, and how to order patches for your club.
The classic three-piece back patch
Traditional motorcycle club vests use three patches on the back:
- Top rocker — the club's name or territory (arched, sits across the shoulders).
- Center patch — the club's logo or emblem (eagle, skull, shield — whatever represents the club).
- Bottom rocker — chapter, location, or motto.
This is exactly the layout of our Harley-style eagle patch set — center eagle plus matching top and bottom rockers.
Where do side patches go?
Chest and shoulder patches sit on the front of the vest or jacket — club initials, flags, or memorial patches. Small skull, flag, and motto patches like our biker collection are made for exactly that.
Choosing the right size
Back patches are typically 8-12 inches wide; rockers 2-3 inches tall. If you're unsure, our patch size guide walks through sizes for vests, jackets, shirts and hats — with prices.
Iron-on or sew-on for a vest?
Leather vests are heavy — sew-on is the durable choice for leather. For denim, iron-on works, and many riders iron then stitch the edge for double security.
